I know. “Bloom where you’re planted” sounds a little like something you’d see on a wooden sign at HomeGoods. But lately, I’ve been thinking there may actually be something to it.
I’m very good at looking ahead. There is always another plan, another idea, another trip, another project, or something I think I should be doing better. Maybe you do this too.
We spend so much time thinking about what we want to change, accomplish, or get to next that we forget to notice that quite a lot of life is happening right now. There are people we enjoy being around and conversations worth staying for. Coffee that tastes better when we actually sit down to drink it. And sunsets that continue to be ridiculously beautiful, whether we pay attention or not.
Wanting more from life isn’t a bad thing. But I don’t want to be so busy waiting for the next thing that I miss what is already good.
Maybe blooming where you’re planted doesn’t mean settling. Maybe it just means taking care of the life you have while you’re working toward the life you want.
So maybe this week, notice one good thing you’ve been rushing past. Call the person you keep meaning to call. Stay a little longer after dinner. Go outside when the sky starts changing color. Whatever it is, give it a few minutes before moving on to the next thing.
The future will still be there.

%FIRSTNAME%, I have something I’d love to invite you to.
I’m bringing a small group together for a retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
There will be meditation, reflection, and yoga for both strength and stillness. We’ll hike to a nearby waterfall, try a few fun workshops, and make room for unhurried time of your own. For those who want to try it, there will be an optional sauna and cold plunge.
Think dinners that linger, conversations around the fire, laughter, and new friendships.
You don’t need any previous experience with yoga or meditation. Just come willing to try, participate, and have a good time.
If this sounds like exactly the kind of getaway you could use, take a look. The Early Access List is now open.
The full retreat details before registration opens to everyone
Priority booking and the widest choice of rooms
