Read part one here, and part two here
Your body is in bed. Is your mind still at work?
Yoga gives us a few simple ways to direct that mental energy without fighting it.
1. Give your thoughts somewhere to go
Before getting into bed, write down tomorrow’s tasks, worries, or anything you are trying to remember.
This can act as a kind of mental clearing, giving the mind permission to stop holding everything so tightly.
2. Give the mind one quiet place to rest
Follow the feeling of your breath moving in and out, silently repeat a calming word, or slowly bring your attention through the body from head to toe.
This is a form of dharana—gently placing your attention on one thing instead of following every thought that appears.
3. Practice non-striving
One of the most useful lessons from yoga is that not everything improves when we push harder.
The pressure to fall asleep can make the mind more alert. Instead of trying to force sleep, focus on breathing slowly, softening the body, and resting comfortably.
You cannot force yourself to sleep.
You can create the conditions that make sleep more likely.

Looking forward to seeing you soon
