I’m driving my family crazy…... no wonder

The Five Element Series - Water

I’m not a clean freak by any means, so I’m not sure what’s going on — but the clutter in my house is suddenly driving me nuts.

Piles of shoes in the hallway. Dirty dishes in the sink. Socks on the floor. Coffee stains on the counter.
And everywhere I turn I just see more… and once I’ve seen it, I can’t unsee it.

My closet is a disaster.
The kitchen drawers are so full they could all be labeled “junk drawer.”

And now that I’ve started cleaning… I can’t stop.
I’m organizing files on my computer and deleting stuff from work I did more than 20 years ago.

I’m deleting unused apps on my phone.
Every time I turn around, I find something else that needs to be decluttered or cleaned.

And then… my husband. He loves candles, which is all good and well — except he carries them from room to room dripping candle wax everywhere.
I swear I feel like that green cartoon in the Christmas movie. 😅

Then I learned what February means…

Maybe it’s because this time of year is dark and cold and we spend more time at home…

But then I found out what the word February means (to purify / cleanse), and suddenly it all made sense. No wonder.

So I’ve made peace with myself. I’m going to let myself clean and organize as much as I want — because March is around the corner, and I’m pretty sure this intense “must declutter everything” phase will wear off.

Water has been on my mind

If you follow me on social media, you know I often post pictures of waterfalls.
I’m not sure what it is, but water is so inspiring to me.

Water will always find a way.
Water takes the path of least resistance.

So tell me… how is February treating you?
Have you felt the urge to start spring cleaning early? (Because that normally never happens at my house.)

With warmth,

P.S. Maybe I’m just a productive procrastinator. My son taught me that word.
His first year in college he did everything… except studying. His shoes were organized in neat rows, his bed was made, his clothes hanging in perfectly color-coordinated sections. 😂
