10 full moon facts I bet you didn't know

1️⃣ The Moon Has “Moonquakes”
Just like Earth shakes, the Moon trembles too! Some moonquakes last up to 10 minutes.
2️⃣ It’s Drifting Away
The Moon moves about 3.8 cm farther from Earth every year — in a few hundred million years, total eclipses will be impossible.
3️⃣ It Smells Like Gunpowder
Apollo astronauts said moon dust clinging to their suits smelled like spent gunpowder once back in the cabin. 🌌
4️⃣ It’s Never Truly “Full” Everywhere
There’s only one exact instant of fullness — a few seconds long — seen differently depending on where you are on Earth.
5️⃣ Bees Stop Flying Under a Full Moon
Research shows honeybees rest more when the moon is bright — even nature takes a pause. 🐝
6️⃣ Animals Act Differently
Lions hunt less (too bright!), owls hunt more, and some fish rise closer to the surface. Nature dances to lunar rhythm. 🌙
7️⃣ It Affects Our Sleep
Studies found we sleep about 20 minutes less during a full moon — even in dark rooms. Coincidence? Maybe not. 😴
8️⃣ Every Month Has a Moon Name
Wolf, Strawberry, Harvest, Cold… ancient cultures named each full moon to track the seasons. 🌾
9️⃣ There’s a “Blue” and a “Black” Moon
A Blue Moon = two full moons in one month.
A Black Moon = a month with no full moon.
Neither is about color — just timing! 💙
🔟 Astronauts Left Mirrors on the Moon — and They Still Work!
During the Apollo missions, astronauts placed special retro-reflectors on the surface. Scientists still bounce lasers off them today to measure the exact distance between Earth and the Moon — accurate to within a few centimeters! 🔭💥

✨ Whether you feel energized, emotional, or inspired — the full moon simply illuminates what’s already within.
