and then I had a dump truck in my bathroom 😌

Luckily I was not sitting on the throne, because I honestly do not think I would have recovered from the shock.
Ok, let me start from the beginning...
We have this huge oak tree in our yard. It is beautiful, but it had started leaning more and more toward the neighbor’s house. The neighbor had been on me to take it down because they were genuinely worried it would fall and split their house in two.
So we finally decided to take it down.
The tree company came, and they were backing this 50,000-pound tandem dump truck scary close to our house. And I remember thinking, wow... they really know what they are doing.
Until they didn’t.
The truck was on an incline. They had blocks behind the wheels. And then... I am still not totally sure what happened. Maybe they removed the blocks. Maybe it got put in reverse by accident.
All I know is there was a huge noise, and the truck went straight through the wall and, yes, into my bathroom.
Absolute chaos.
The poor guy driving the truck was devastated and so embarrassed.
My heart was pounding, my hands were shaking, and my breath was stuck in my throat. And my first thought was just: is everybody ok?
And thankfully, yes. No one was standing behind the truck. Everyone was ok.
I mean, yes, there is now a giant hole in my wall. But they missed the waterline by a few inches, so we did not have water spraying everywhere. And we also have a propane gas tank underground, and they missed that too.
So now we have plastic and plywood covering the hole to keep the raccoons and squirrels out.
And yes, before you ask, the company does have insurance.
At this point, we just hear the birds better.
But really, the whole thing reminded me how fast life can change. How quickly something can happen. And how lucky we are when it is only inconvenience and material damage.
It also made me think... if there is something we want to do, maybe we should just go ahead and do it.
